Voice Over IP (VOIP) Case Study - ShoreTel

Pickering-based firm BW Underwriting Services recently replaced their telephone system with an IP Telephone system. After researching available brands, and comparing product features with their project's requirements, BW selected a system by California-based ShoreTel.

BW wanted to perform the installation and subsequent support all in-house, so two of its technical staff attended ShoreTel dealer technician training, and then they designed and installed the system.

Our presenters will be those two BW staff, Senior Helpdesk/LAN Admin Neil Groat and Telecom Manager Dave Whitaker.

Since BW operates in the same building as the DITA meetings, we will have active ShoreTel phones set-up in the meeting room for demonstration purposes.

Dave and Neil will give an overview of the project, outline why they selected ShoreTel, and demonstrate some of the features that the IP-based system will do that their former Nortel Norstar system could not.
